Big Problems May Arise When You Ignore Symptoms
Of Constipation
One mistake that you never want to make is to simply ignore the symptoms
of constipation no matter how often the problem arises or disappears. There
are a number of factors that lead to problems with short term cases of
constipation which is perhaps why the condition is so common and so rarely
diagnosed by a physician. When the symptoms do not intensify and normal
bowel functioning returns within a few days, there are generally no long
term medical problems caused by the constipation.
There are times when the
bowel movements do not normalize and symptoms persist for several days
without lessening. Long term problems with constipation is a serious
health concern because it may lead to the accumulation of toxins
in the colon and along the gastrointestinal tract.
Future bowel
movements will compact this waste along the walls where it will
harden and dry. Compacted feces along the gastrointestinal walls
make it easier for parasites such as hook worms to attach to
the lining of the intestines. In time, these parasites will become
a drain upon your body and may weaken the immune system's ability
to repel bacteria.
Some problems that can arise when waste and
undigested food are allowed to accumulate in the colon and intestines:
1.
Diverticulitis- this condition is very severe for your health
because it causes herniated pockets to develop in the colon.
These pockets literally store waste and toxins and thus are potential
sources for long-term toxic damage, including cancer. Coleo-rectal
cancer is the number three killer among all cancers and the
accumulation of compacted waste and undigested foods make the
entire colon more toxic and lead to a number of medical problems,
including colon cancer, and the development of polyps.
2. Candidasis- this is essentially a yeast infection
growing out of
control within your gastrointestinal tract. Typical symptoms
are actually
caused by a weakened immune system and include:
. Indigestion
. Chronic to severe fatigue and general loss of energy, even
during
midday
. Diarrhea
. Constipation
. Severe and acute abdominal pain
. Gastritis
. Skin problems including acne, rashes
. Mucus in Stool
1. Septicemia- in cases of protracted fecal impaction
and the resulting
inability to pass stool, bacteria and toxins will be absorbed
into your blood stream. These harmful elements will cause cell
damage to several systems. If the bacteria are allowed to accumulate
for a prolonged period or if the immune system is weakened
by other causes, a condition known as septicemia may develop.
This is little more than a massive infection raging in your
body and it can lead to death unless treated immediately with
antibiotic or other antimicrobial treatments.
You cannot actually
prevent constipation forever. Even using enemas, suppositories,
and even laxatives will only relieve short term symptoms.
You can help avoid problems, however, by eating
a diet rich in fiber and helping your digestive system to function
more effectively. Drinking plenty of water and eating the daily
recommended amount of fiber will help keep the stool soft and bowel
movements regular. However, if prevention fails, do not ignore
the symptoms of constipation because there may be severe consequences
to your long term health when you do.
