What Should You Do To Prevent Colon Cancer
With cancer awareness month here, we are going to talk a little bit about one of the cancers that no one likes to talk about – colon cancer. Colon cancer is not something that should be ignored. As a matter of fact over 100,000 people in the US will get colon cancer this year and over 50,000 people will die from it. This is a threat to your health that you should definitely take seriously.
So, what can you do to make sure you are not the next victim of colon cancer? Well, you can't do anything to keep you from 100% getting it, but there are some things you can do to try and lessen your odds.
The first thing you need to do is assess your diet and decide if it is the kind of diet that is going to do you the most good. You want to be on a high fiber, low fat diet to avoid colon cancer. You see one of the colon cancer symptoms is often constipation. Anything that is not working right in the colon can be a trigger or at least weaken the system to make it more susceptible to bowel cancer.
The next thing you need to do is to create a healthy body to make it harder for cancer to thrive within it. Often a healthy body can keep operating so smoothly that it will not create an environment that is conducive to cancer.
Studies have found that sedentary lifestyles are also a contributor to cancer of the colon. So, if you have been thinking it is time to get back into exercising anyways, this may really be the time to do it, as it could be an aid in saving your life.
In addition to trying to keep your body healthy to prevent getting colon cancer, you should also do what you can to screen yourself for it. If you do happen to get colon cancer, the earlier you know and can do something about it, the better the chance you have of making a complete recovery.
