Rhett Syndrome and Constipation – Countering
Medicinal Constipation
This article is going to take it closer look at
the connection between Rhett Syndrome and constipation including
the fact that what a doctor is giving a patient may be making
it worse.
First, let's take a look at what Rhett Syndrome
is. Rhett Syndrome is a neurological disorder that is found
in females. Generally, when a baby is born with this disorder,
it's not noticed right away. The baby is of a normal size and
birth weight. But as the baby grows, it develops more slowly
than other babies do. Over time this becomes more pronounced
in the area of neurological problems such as lack of speech
developments, lack of coordination, overall mobility issues
as well as a small head size.
The neurological problems that are posed by this
disorder are not only seen from the outside. Some of them are
happening on the inside of the body as well. For example, because
of Rhett Syndrome, the digestive system may not operate as effectively
as it would in a normal person. Nerves being slower or incorrect
signals being sent to the nerves that usually process waste
can lead to waste backing up in the system and constipation.
Making matters worse is that there are a number
of other symptoms related to Rhett Syndrome that can also be
treated by a doctor with medication. Unfortunately, many medications
have a side effect of leading to constipation. That means a
person with Rhett Syndrome who is being treated for various
symptoms can be at a double risk for constipation.
Colon Cleanse
So, while you want to stop those other symptoms,
you also don't want to have to deal with constipation. What
can you do? There are a few options to try and keep the body
working effectively in a digestive capacity. The first one to
look at is a colon cleanse. A colon cleanse is literally a process
of cleaning out the entire digestive tract to remove any of
that backed up or impacted waste. The most effective style colon
cleanse is the oral supplement. Essentially in this case a capsule
of some sort is taken that processes from the stomach through
the digestive tract and cleans out everything along the way.
Diet
Another thing that can be done is to make sure
that the person suffering with Rhett Syndrome and constipation
is on a high fiber and high hydration die. Making sure there's
enough water in the body can help keep waste from drying out
more quickly. Additionally, a high fiber diet makes it harder
for the waste to be backed up in the first place as fiber is
more easily moved through the digestive tract.
