Hydrating For Constipation Relief
If you are one of many people who is regularly
plagued with bouts of constipation, you may always be looking
for a new form of constipation relief. But believe it or not,
one of the easiest forms of constipation relief that you can
use, is likely right in your kitchen sink.
For many people, part of the cause of their constipation
is the fact that they are not properly hydrated. You have to
keep in mind that almost all of the operations in the human
body rely on a lot of water to make them happen. After all,
the human body is mostly water. So, if you're not taking enough
water in to keep the system running smoothly, there are bound
to be some problems. Quite often these problems will have you
looking for constipation relief.
How much water should you drink?
Many people wonder just how much water they should
be drinking to make sure they're adequately hydrated. The general
rule of thumb is that you should drink about eight glasses of
water a day. These glasses should be at least 8 ounces each,
for a total of about 64 ounces of water per day.
Now, this is for people who have a normal lifestyle,
and are just moderately active. If you do a lot of exercising,
are out in the sun a lot, or do other things that cause your
body to perspire, losing hydration, you need to drink all the
more water to compensate for that.
Do I have to drink water?
The next question a lot of people ask is if they
have to drink just water. Well, not exactly. It is best if you
give your body plenty of water to use that it doesn't have to
filter other things out of. However, when you add in things
like fruit juices, these may actually be added to the water
in being part of a constipation relief program. This is especially
the case if you choose prune juice or apple juice.
One thing to keep in mind when you are drinking
fruit juices, though, is that they have a lot of calories. So
if part of your current diet style is to keep your weight in
check, you don't want to use too much fruit juice, and you may
want to stick to more water instead.
Hydration is such a simple thing yet it is often
one that is overlooked by most people. You should not wait until
you're thirsty to drink, but make sure your body never has to
get to that point. This will not only help you with your overall
health but also with constipation relief.
