Counter Iron Supplements for Constipation Relief

Are you one of those people that always try to make sure that you have given your body all the great nutrients it needs in order to be as strong and healthy as it can be. But every now and then you start noticing that you're dealing with obnoxious bouts of constipation that you just can't get rid of. Why is that? Why is it that when you're doing everything right, your body seems to be doing everything wrong? Well the truth of the matter is it may well be some of the supplements that you're taking and they're causing you to need constipation relief.

One of the supplements that can start to cause an issue that makes you search for constipation relief is iron. Women are very commonly recommended to take iron supplements as their body loses a lot of iron in the course of its natural menstrual cycle every month.

The problem comes in the fact that when you purchase iron supplements at the store to take as part of your vitamin and supplement regimen, they come in preset doses. Perhaps your body doesn't need quite as much as the iron supplement in the store is offering you? And when there is excess iron in your system, it can lead to part of your constipation problem.

So what do you do? Well if you have been recommended by a doctor to take the iron supplement, you want to keep taking it. However, it's time to call the doctor and explain your problem. You need to clearly explain to your doctor that you are taking your supplements just as you are recommended that now you are constantly having to look for constipation relief as a result. Perhaps they can tweak the amount of the iron that you are taking, to make sure you're still getting enough for your overall health, while not taking in so much that it's causing constant bouts of constipation.

Another thing that you need to think about when you're taking a lot of supplements and vitamins is that you are asking your body to break down those capsules and pills, and put it all to good use. You are going to need to make sure you are drinking plenty of water to give your body the resources it needs to do this job. You should be drinking at least eight, 8-ounce glasses of water every day to start with. But if you are taking a lot of supplements, you may want to take an extra glass with those supplements to make sure your body has enough water to work effectively.
